Cy Turnbladh

Cy was born in New York City, 1952.

 

Moved to a farm in Minnesota in 1959.

 

Father was a public administrator and Mother was an elementary and art teacher.

 

Graduated Stillwater High School in 1970.

 

Started Tamarack Farm Stoneware as a studio potter.

 

Attended the University of Minnesota 1970 - 1973, majoring in studio art.

 

Started Tamarack House Galleries in 1974; a 7000 sq. ft. space dedicated to selling local and nationally recognized artist’s works, continuing until 1988.

 

Produced functional stoneware pottery and decorative raku pottery, selling in galleries around the country.

 

Moved to Door County, Wisconsin in 1991 and continued to make sculptural and functional pottery.

 

Worked as a freelance writer and photographer for a local newspaper.

 

Started Spirited Hands Gallery, in Fish Creek, WI. in 1994 while selling his own art work along with that of national known artists and craftspeople.

 

Then created Hands On Art Studio in 1999, so the public would have a place to play with art and discover their own creativity.

 

Cy's other passion is cooking. When not creating new designs for glass he is creating new recipes!
